Sylvia Beck "Sevala" created Sevala's- A taste of Ukraine in 1985 when she began selling perogies and cabbage rolls to friends, family, and neighbours.  Word caught fire about Sylvia's delicious food and business quickly blossomed.  She converted her garage into a licensed commercial kitchen at her home on Day Street in Transcona and began to focus on bulk sales & catering.  Her business then grew to include two restaurant locations on Rothesay St. and Provencher Blvd.

In 1994 Sevala's moved to our current location in downtown Transcona.  Now owned and operated by Sylvia's son Delmar and his wife Bernie, and their two daughters Amy and Samantha, Sylvia's legacy lives on.  Mutliple family members have also spent time working at "the deli" throughout the years of its operation.  

Our goal, as taught to us by Sylvia is to produce and serve food that we ourselves serve on our own table! Our recipes combine tradition with comfort creating homemade goodness
